"Come From Away" Inspires Southampton Foodbank Drive Success

Southampton's Mayflower Theatre partnered with Theatrical Lydia to run a foodbank drive during the heartwarming musical "Come From Away." The initiative, aligned with Pay It Forward 9/11, collected over 25 crates of food for Feed The Community Foodbank.

Inspired by the show's themes of compassion and community, audiences generously donated, ensuring the foodbank is stocked for over four weeks.

Theatrical Lydia, a dedicated supporter of "Come From Away," took on the "Pay It Forward" mission across the UK tour in honor of her friend Laura Townsend.  Mayflower Theatre contacted Lydia to collaborate, sparking the foodbank drive idea. Free registration is available at PayitForward911.org.

This initiative reflects the spirit of Pay It Forward 9/11, a global movement inspired by the real-life events depicted in "Come From Away."

"The response has been incredible," said Mayflower Theatre's Chief Executive. "We're proud of our audiences and know this will make a real impact."

"I'm completely taken aback by the generosity," said Lydia of Theatrical Lydia. "Thank you to everyone who showed true Newfoundland kindness."

Victoria Ugwoeme, Manager of Feed the Community Foodbank, expressed her gratitude: "Southampton audiences have shown how kind-hearted they can be. Thank you!"
