Each radio station in the UK has obligations with regard to its programmes, including its music and local content. These obligations are set out in a Public File which is intended to give you a better understanding of our output and our involvement with the local community. Comment on the contents of the Public File should be made to the station or to the industry regulator, Ofcom.
Voice FM is a community radio station, run almost entirely by volunteers, for the people of Southampton and the surrounding areas. We broadcast 24 hours a day on 103.9 FM and via the Winchester short-scale DAB multiplex, and via the Listen Live function on our website and most smart speakers.
Programme Schedule
Our Schedule varies every day. A daily breakdown can be found under the Schedule tab in the main menu. Descriptions of our programmes can be found on the Shows page. Voice FM is committed to developing a diverse and inclusive radio station with shows featuring the whole spectrum of genres including Pop, Rock, Dance, Indie, Urban, and Soul.
Programme Types
The majority of our output is produced and presented from our Southampton studio. Voice FM is automated overnight and, when required, some shows may be pre-recorded or delivered from an offsite location.
Recent Programme
All of our shows are available to listen again, on demand, via the Catch Up page.
Localness
Voice FM is committed to supporting the local music scene, so we regularly feature local and home-grown artists on our playlist.
Local Event Support
We publish monthly What’s On bulletins to promote local events.
Playlist
Our core tracks can be found on the Playlist page which is updated weekly.
News
We have no fixed news bulletins or any commitments to provide news at this time. Any news broadcast in our output has been sourced and researched independently by volunteers and/or guests. We broadcast traffic and travel updates during our Breakfast and Drivetime shows, Monday to Friday.
Key Commitments
Each community radio station has a set of Key Commitments which forms part of its licence. The Key Commitments summarise our core aims and how we will meet the particular legislative requirements that apply to community radio. Read our Key Commitments here.
