Richman Bana is a rising Afrobeats star from Cameroon
His nine track Album 'Our Journey', see him collaborate on 'Mbam' with The Scientists and shows off Richman's linguistic and emotional triumph.
He was recently interviewed by Voice FM's Victoria Ugwoeme on her Tuesday afternoon show 'Voices of Africa'.
Victoria asked: 'What inspired him to become a musician, how often he composes and if he plays any instruments?
Richman responded by saying he was inspired to become a musician by his deep love for expressing emotions through music. His father was a Music Director who influenced his love for creating music. He composes regularly, conducts occasionally and performs whenever the opportunity arises.
Victoria: Some musicians diversify by both singing and playing instruments, she asked, is this something, you do?
Richman replied: that he plays multiple instruments and engages in both singing and playing instruments, often collaborating with other musicians.
For example 'Molyko Girl' (Track 8) was inspired by the vibrant atmosphere of Buea, Cameroon. Capturing the essence of people and places that shaped his musical journey.
On 'Our Journey'. (Track 1) reflects Richman's vision for his people, through catchy rhythms.
While there was notable collaboration on 'Mbam' (Track2).with Large Pro the Scientists, with Richman singing in the Laminso language.
This song tells a touching story of a son's promise of prosperity when he returns from the city, thus creating a track both pleasing and emotionally compelling.
'Amen' (Track 3), is heartfelt and serves as a prayer, addressing global suffering particularly the impact of the Ambazonia Crisis in Cameroon.
Richman Bana's fusion of reggae beats with meaningful lyrics, showing he is more than an entertainer, he is a conscientious storyteller.
