MAST Mayflower Studios announces a new early career artist programme – Propel Associates

MAST Mayflower Studios announces the launch of a new early career artist programme – Propel Associates – designed with the ambition to develop and mentor local companies or individual artists looking to pursue their creative careers. The programme aims to support, empower, and enrich artists through a 20-month process, involving a number of benefits aimed at nurturing up-and-coming talent.

To provide pathways for developing artists, MAST has curated a bespoke package of support to enrich creative development and provide practical aid, including: access to rehearsal space, mentoring sessions and seed commissions. With this combination of benefits and increased access to MAST resources, this is an exciting opportunity for artists to have the freedom to establish their practices and creative identity.

Sara Scott, MAST Executive Director says “We’re so pleased to be able to offer this opportunity to local artists, of any artform, that create work for live performance. Whilst this opportunity may be of particular interest to early career stage artists, we absolutely welcome applications from artists at all stages of their career, even if it’s not been a full-time job to date, we want to support local people to realise their ideas and ambitions”.

Over the course of 20 months, artists will deliver workshops, attend Artist Network meetings, and get involved with professional and creative mentoring sessions, with the programme culminating in the opportunity to have their own end of residency performance as part of the MAST Mayflower Studios SHOUT Festival.

Applications for the Propel Associate programme are open until Monday 22 May 2023 and can be submitted through the MAST website.

This programme is offered alongside MAST’s already growing artist development programme – Propel and is a continuation of their commitment in supporting local artists to develop new work. More about the Propel Programme and other opportunities for artists can be found on the MAST Mayflower Studios website – mayflowerstudios.org.uk.
