Richard Latto’s Stereo Underground Arrives At Voice FM

After ten magical years at the BBC, one of the biggest shows in local radio is changing stations and heading to Voice FM in Southampton.

A familiar figure in the Southampton region, Richard Latto is moving from BBC Solent to Voice FM, allowing his local listeners to continue listening to Stereo Underground across the city.

As Richard explained: “Voice is a fantastic vibrant station. I often tune in and enjoy the fact there's a surprise around each corner, with really fun and passionate presenters who clearly love the thrill of being on the radio. I often hear the station when out and about, in city centre shops, and coming out of open car windows.”

For station manager Xan Phillips, Richard joining Voice FM is a wonderful moment for the radio station, the presenters and city.

“To have a presenter of Richard’s caliber on the station is a great boost for the presenters and demonstrates that Voice FM has made big strides over these past 12 years,” he said.

“For our listeners this is another eclectic yet highly professional show that continues our trend of providing quality evening entertainment.”

Richard leaves BBC Solent on a ten-year high, with Stereo Underground one of the most downloaded local radio shows on BBC Sounds: “It was a real privilege to do the show for the BBC for so long.,” said Richard. “My first editor Sarah very kindly backed the idea and it just grew and grew! I had no idea how passionate the audience would be.”

It is all about the listeners for Richard, he has a natural rapport with his loyal followers and as he is moving into new territory, there is the perfect opportunity to expand the scope of Stereo Underground.  So what can his regular listeners expect in the future?

“The show will continue with all the favourite features,” he said, “but there will be some surprises too! There is so much scope and we even have some special events planned for the near future.”

Don't miss out on the next chapter of Stereo Underground with Richard Latto – catch it every Wednesday at 9 pm on Southampton's Voice FM.
