Southampton Pride 2023

Voice FM is proud to be a media partner of Southampton Pride and ally of the LGBTQ+ community, and really looking forward to the events in the city centre on Saturday 26th August.

It all begins here...

The Pride March 10:00am

The free community Pride March is the highlight of the event, making its way through the City Centre, through the city’s historic Bargate before heading back to the event site.

Gather: The March gathers at the stunning Queens Park. Participants include both corporate and public sections meet in the park at approximately 10:00am before setting off along the High Street towards the Bargate.

A key central focus of Pride Photography each year, the march pauses at the Bargate for photos (see above) with the official crew and the public watching the march progress before setting off again for the final stretch towards the Southampton Pride event at Guildhall Square.

Due to traffic regulations and safety, roads are temporarily closed, but these need to be reopened as quickly as possible to minimise disruption, especially if there is a football match on at St Mary's.

For this reason, the March splits at Civic Centre Road (see map) with half heading towards our Above Bar Street Main Entrance and the other heading towards Civic Centre Road entrance.

If you want to take a role in the march, for example holding a placard. See more details on this page.

As a member of the public, you do not need to register to march in the parade. Join around 10:00-10:30am in Queens Park and a volunteer will show you where to join the public section of the march.

Don't forget your flags, placards, signs and chants!

The Guildhall Square Celebration (11am - 10pm)

Please note for security reasons, all March participants with bags must be searched upon entry to the site - there are no exceptions to this. Water bottles must be sealed or empty to be allowed through security.

Acts on stage include pop group Liberty X are set to headline the event, minus their male counterparts, performing hits such as 'Just a Little'.

RuPaul's Drag Race UK winner The Vivienne also features, after withdrawing from pride last year.

Drag Syndrome, a troupe of fierce drag queens and kings with Down's Syndrome, also share top billing, challenging preconceptions about disability with their fabulous performances.

Pride organisers also informed Voice FM that:

“We will also be welcoming back old favourites to the Southampton Pride stages, The Dolly Show, Gay Elvis, Aura Jay, Cherry Liquor, Dawn the Drag Queen and Hunting Hearts. With more acts than ever before and a whole new range of diverse acts to introduce to our audiences, we are so excited for our event."

Last year approximately 17,000 people attended the event in the city centre
