The cave of wonders has come to Southampton in Disney’s Aladdin at The Mayflower Theatre!
If you’re not in the know, the show follows an unlikely couple – Aladdin, who grew up on the streets and Agrabah’s Princess Jasmine. The magical Genie helps this couple along the way.
If you love Disney, this show is for you! It comes with sparkling costumes, big and bold set designs, slick choreography and smooth harmonies. Many of the sets, much like the show’s acting talents, glisten and shine but the Cave of Wonders is really something to behold.
I wasn’t quite sure how they would pull off the magic carpet ride but they did and they did it with such grace and ease. A beautiful scene where Aladdin and Jasmine fly through the air, you truly do believe the carpet is magic.
I have the say, Yeukayi Ushe stole the show with his portrayal of the Genie. It was everything you wanted and more – he is completely in his element with this role. His moves, his singing and his pizazz shines bright just like the set behind him. He makes all ages laugh and will no doubt have your cheeks hurting from smiling just like I did.
I can't not mention Adam Strong's portrayal of Jafar, the charisma and stance he had was out of this world. He made it very hard to dislike him as the villain character! Fabulous expression and the best evil cackle I have ever heard!
Aladdin is at The Mayflower up until 29th September – it will leave you tapping your feet and grinning from ear to ear, I promise!
