A light blanket of snow arrived overnight across Southampton, bringing excitement and frosty views without causing major disruption. Residents are enjoying the wintery feel as the city carries on as normal.
Southampton woke up to a snowy surprise this morning as light snow fell overnight across the city. While it hasn’t stopped much from happening, the fresh dusting has certainly added a sense of excitement to the start of the day.
Roads are mostly clear and public transport is running as usual; however, some pavements and residential areas are a little slippery. For many families and visitors, the snow provides a chance to admire the city looking a little different under a white cover.
We’d love to see how the snow looks where you are. If you’ve taken any photos, you can WhatsApp them to us on 0300 302 1039, or download and send them directly via the Voice FM app. Click to download for Apple or Android. You can listen to live transport updates on Your Green Breakfast this morning on 103.9, DAB, Smart Speaker and Online.
We’re also preparing a dedicated section on our website listing local schools, colleges, universities, and educational establishments, showing whether they’re open during adverse weather. While it’s not quite needed yet, you can save the page now by adding it to your favourites:
