The D-Word is from the perspective of Peter and Calum. Peter Langton is someone with cerebral palsy and a hearing impairment, while Calum Brennan has been registered blind since he was five.
Pete was a BC2 Boccia player and athlete since 2009. Boccia is a Paralympic sport and played nationally and did have ambitions to become a Paralympian.
However, having recently been reclassified he was unable to continue 'retired' a the end of the 2023/24 season after 15 years of being a Boccia athlete.
He's now planning a career in the media and recently went to Paris to report on the Paralympics for Voice FM.
Meet Calum Brennan, an aspiring writer, comedian, radio presenter. After studying creative writing at the University of Winchester, which included a radio-related module.
He was told on multiple occasions that he had a voice for the media.
Discussing disability discrimination and representation is something that Calum is very passionate about, as he has been registered blind since he was five.
